That series, which was based on a wide range of sources, was thought to have been completed by 1993, and thereafter the author's emphasis was on specific colonies or regions of the Americas--for example \"Scots in Georgia and the Deep South, 1735-1845\", or \"Scots in Jamaica, 1655-1855\"--or related topics such as \"Ships from Scotland to America, 1628-1828.\" However, since 1993 Dobson's ongoing research in often obscure sources has unearthed a substantial number of references to Scottish immigrants in America, Canada, and the West Indies, for the period 1625-1825.
