She graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Home Economics and in 1941 she also received her Master of Science degree there. She was not only a mother and wife, but an excellent cook, a talented artist and a creative writer. In addition, Sue worked alongside her husband, Mabry Earl Navarro, in their business in West Texas. She was an excellent researcher, writing various papers about the history and families of West Texas as well as working on her own family genealogy. Many of these papers include her own pen and ink sketches.
