A prolific author of poetry, fiction and essays, Soseki wrote some of Japan's most beloved novels, including \u003ci\u003eI Am a Cat, Botchan\u003c\/i\u003e, and \u003ci\u003eKokoro\u003c\/i\u003e. He is so revered in Japan that his image appeared on the 1000 Yen banknote for many years. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cb\u003eEdwin McClellan\u003c\/b\u003e was a leading scholar, translator and professor of Japanese literature at Yale University. He is noted for his translations of Soseki's \u003ci\u003eKokoro\u003c\/i\u003e and \u003ci\u003eGrass on the Wayside\u003c\/i\u003e, and is the author of \u003ci\u003eTwo Japanese Novelists: Soseki and Toson\u003c\/i\u003e.
